Hi Everyone, We've determined the BETA work day schedule for the Spring, Summer, and Fall. I'd like to share it with you since we've kicked it off early with this warm weather and will be getting together this Sunday March 25th at Hardy Road in Wilmington. We've decided to go with the last Sunday of the month as our regular trail work day(The only exception will be in May, when we bump the work day up to June 2nd to celebrate National Trails Day). Are you interested in taking part in the Wilmington Whiteface 100K Leadville Qualifier bike race? We will be raffling off FREE ENTRIES to the WW100K race at our work days leading up to the race on June 17th!!! Just join us for a work day and your name goes in the hat to get a free entry(note: we'll pull at least one winner each work day at 9:00am before we head out on the trail! please don't be late if you want to take part in the race raffle!) The schedule is as follows:

Informal trail work sessions will be going on Monday evenings in Lake Placid and Wilmington. Look for details about these opportunities to be posted on the Barkeater Trails Alliance facebook page. Saranac Lake will have an informal weekly trails get-together as well, though a specific day is still TBD. More info to come soon. We welcome everyone, and we’d love to have you join us whenever is convenient for you! Please plan on coming prepared to work in the woods with sturdy boots, water, necessary provisions, and appropriate clothing. You are welcome to bring your own tools, and tools from the BETA cache will be made available as well. By the Way: In the spirit of efficiency, If you happen to be out doing trail work independently on trails we take an interest in, please don't hesitate to get in touch and let us know what you've been up to so we don't duplicate our efforts accidentally. Use the "contact us!" tab on our homepage... And now for a Public Service Announcement: On DEC managed Forest Preserve lands, please be certain to communicate with and get appropriate approvals from the local forester or ranger before conducting any trail development or maintenance activities. Thank you. Spring BETA meeting minutes from March 19th will be made available next week on the website. The trails are certainly drying out quick this year, but it's still important to avoid the wet/soft trails to offset unnecessary damage. Please stick to the drier areas until things shape up a bit more.
Cheers! Matt McNamara
